G Squared Transactions Featured in Washington Technology

Two recent transactions led by G Squared were featured in Washington Technology. Of note, both transactions represented add-on acquisitions to newer platform investments made by local private equity firms.

The first transactions was the acquisition of Volant Associates by Octo, a portfolio company of Arlington Capital Partners. Volant was founded in 2008 and holds prime contracts with the Defense Intelligence Agency and other members of the larger intelligence community for work in areas such as cloud-native solutions, enterprise data architectures and interoperability initiatives. The Chantilly-headquartered company’s portfolio also includes support of the Defense Intelligence Information Enterprise framework, which is essentially an online portal that links agencies to software tools for their organization. This transaction further builds upon Octo’s strategy to be the go-to technology modernization provider for federal agencies. The second transaction was the acquisition of Darkblade Systems by Intrepid Solutions & Services, a portfolio company of Bluestone Investment Partners. With Darkblade, Intrepid is picking up a strong presence supporting C5ISR platforms within the Army. Added capabilities include research and development work, signals intelligence, electronic warfare, cybersecurity, and counter unmanned systems. The acquisition nearly doubles Intrepid’s size and further grows its ability to deliver advanced technology products and services to the IC.
